Today my husband helped a woman who lives in our neighborhood whose roof was leaking. It has rained consistently for the past week. She has placed a bucket under the leak.
She lives on a very small fixed income and there is no dollars left at the end of each month to do maintenance on her home. It is old, not very clean and everything needs fixing.
My husband, being the ever good neighbor that he is, sent a man over that was doing some work on our house and had him repair the roof.
We can do a little, she needs a lot. So many women alone who live in poverty. She’s a cheerful soul, was a beauty in her day, now in her eighties and walking with the help of a walker. Her children live in distant states and I believe she does not share with them her financial woes.
